It has been a while since the last edition of the Gravelle Gazette and a lot has changed! Macy is currently 4 months, 2 weeks, and 6 days old. She talks all the time and can roll over! Most of the time it's unintentional, but soon enough she'll be on the move!
The big news this week is rice cereal. She just finished her very first bowl of it and absolutely loved it! Most of it ended up on her bib, the tray, her arms, down her shirt, and all over Mama's hands. Afterwards she got a nice long soak in the tub to sluff away the mush.

New Orleans, the beach, and 3 months...oh my!
The past few weeks have been busy, but that appears to be the way Macy likes it. This active youngin' wants to always be on the go and looking out at what is happening around her! Her first ever vacation was this last Memorial Day weekend. After sleeping like an angel through the three and a half hour car ride, Macy was rearing to go around New Orleans...or not. She slept for 2 more hours while being strolled along the streets! It could have been the 95 degree heat that put her into a sleepy daze. Once she woke up, she decided that she was too hot for comfort so everyone headed back to the hotel for some downtime. Later on that night Ma and Pa Gravelle set out in search of a good restaurant with little Macy in tow. It was so busy that they ended up waiting outside a restaurant on Bourbon Street to get a table. Just then, a homeless man who was short a few front teeth decided he wanted to touch Macy. Mama Bear came roaring out when, after being asked three times to leave the sleeping baby alone, the man got mad and started yelling and approaching the stroller with force! Just in time, we were able to slip into the restaurant and evade all of the crazies who were out to party on Bourbon.

The next weekend was also busy, but not so crazy. Macy got to meet 7 of her "uncles" from Washington! Nate's guy friends decided to take a weekend to come stay at a beach house down here in Pensacola Beach. Despite the noise and craziness when they were all over for dinner, Macy proved that she can sleep like a champ and passed out on her bouncy chair curled up in a ball. So cute! The next day we all headed down to the beach to get some relief from the 106 degree temperature in Milton.
Macy stayed cool in the shade in her little beach tent while the rest of us roasted in the sun and played in the surf. It will be so much fun when Macy can play in the waves and the sand too!
As of yesterday, June 6th, Macy is 3 months old! This little infant (no longer a newborn) was caught playing with her stuffed animals and even trying to eat one poor puppy's ear. Her new favorite things to do are to
chew on her hands, your hands, or anything within reach, and scream. Her lovely little newborn coo has turned into a loud screeching squeal of delight. When mommy and daddy are out of eyesight her screams get louder and a lot more frequent. The second we come back into view she just smiles :) Also, Macy has been practicing her "stand-ups" as is building up lots of strength. She hates tummy time with a passion, so mommy and daddy have been getting creative with different ways to work this little baby out. She LOVES it!

Just another day in the life of a superstar
Macy is a lot like her parents in many ways. She has her mama's eyes, her dad's sense of humor, and many more lovely attributes. The most fun one to crop up so far is that, like her Mommy, Macy loves to talk! Once the girl gets going she is hard to stop. Here's a little snippet of the daily dialogue:

2 month old Chunky Monkey & Mothers Day
It's official, Macy is chunky! She had her 2 month well baby checkup on Friday and her pediatrician is very excited that she is obviously a "healthy eater" and is gaining right on track . 12 pounds 0 ounces puts her in the 96th percentile for weight, while her 23 inch long frame rounds out
the 93rd percentile. It looks like she is going to take after her parents! Unfortunately she had to get her first shots, which was harder for mom than it was for Macy. After one loooooong scream she passed out and slept like a rock for hours! Only 2 more months of peace until her next round...
This morning Macy woke up super early after almost 8 hours of sleep to give Mom her Mother's Day gift: lots of smiles and giggles :) The funniest part of the day so far was when Macy decided that the sanctuary in Church was a little too quiet and she started grunting in her sleep with every breath loud enough to disrupt everyone within a 6 row radius. Can I get an Amen! Hopefully the rest of the day will be a lot more peaceful and we will have a great time being lazy around the house and then heading to the Crab Trap for a tasty seafood dinner. Yum!

Somebunny Special :)
When we got home from church the Easter Bunny had given Macy the best gift of all: a skype video call with almost all of her relatives from her mommy's side. She finally got to see all of the aunts, uncles, cousins, and great grandparents she had heard so much about!
After a long day of scarfing down lots of candy and sleeping through photo shoots, Macy was wired and not at all ready for sleep. Too bad the cute "somebunny's sleepy" outfit wasn't true! Either way, Macy rocked her bunny hat and outfit in style :)

Macy's Grand Entrance
Macy Marie Gravelle arrived on March 6, 2011 at 6:07 p.m. She weighed in at 7 lbs 9.9 oz and measured 21 inches long - tall, just like her Mommy and Daddy!
Today she is 5 weeks, 2 days old and weighs a whopping 9 lbs 7 oz! Her next doctor's appointment is tomorrow - we'll see if she tips the scales past 10. At the rate she is eating, we wouldn't be surprised.
Her next guests of honor were Grandpa and Grandma Gravelle who visited March 23rd through March 31st. They also spoiled Macy with lots of TLC and a special bow made by her crafty Grandma! They also were able to see the Naval Aviation Museum (one of Macy's favorite hot spots...as mentioned before, she may be a future pilot)
After the Grandparent visits, life resumed to a family of 3...well 4, including Gus. Speak of the devil, Macy's canine older brother has a case of the "jealies" (AKA jealousy). We have made sure to shower him with lots of love and treats and he is warming up to the screaming bundle of joy that joined our family a few short weeks ago. All in all, he is very good around her and is adjusting well.
Before and since Macy's arrival, we have been very blessed by our friends. They say the military is an extension of your family and we have experienced this more than ever since the arrival of our little nugget. While Krista was pregnant, friends threw her a baby shower complete with a homemade diaper cake and a hand-crafted wooden tree for Macy's nursery. The tree is not only for decoration, but can also be used to measure Macy's height over the years. When we came home from the hospital, we found our house adorned with "welcome home" and "happy birthday" decorations. In addition, we found meals in the fridge, treats on the counter, and one happy Gus, who was very well-loved while we were gone. Krista didn't have to cook for 3 whole weeks! Talk about generosity and amazing friends. Yesterday, she was surprised when 3 friends showed up to clean the whole house, top to bottom, in preparation for her sister Kortney's special visit. Our friends have made the transition to parenthood so much easier and enjoyable!
Auntie Kortney flew into town today to meet her first niece and will be staying with us through Sunday. So far today we have rested, taken a walk in the hot Florida sun (which Kortney doesn't see in Washington), and worked on setting up this blog! While she is in town, we plan to do girlie things - such as visiting a salon, as Mommy is in dire need of a haircut, while Kortney entertains the little bebe. We will also be celebrating Mommy's 24th birthday, which she almost forgot about in the hype of having a newborn. Macy can't wait to meet the rest of her aunts and uncles one day! Kortney will be sure to bring home lots of pictures and videos from her visit.
Macy's accomplishments as of today:
- Lots of dirty diapers to keep Mommy and Daddy on their toes
- A healthy case of acid reflux
- Lots of smiles this week
- More cooing and "talking" during the past few days
- Sleeping 4-5 hour stretches at night (her parents couldn't be happier about this one)
- She is well-versed in the art of grunting
